Time to back away from the cookies.....
The New Year is upon us....time to get back into gear and back to camp.Well. before we knew it...it was time to get back in gear and put the holidays behind us. Just 2-weeks into 2004, and things are back at full speed. The first trip of the year is a swing through Florida. Just to remind us how lucky us Southerners are....we started with a quick overnighter in freezing Chicago. Roch, Paul and myself stopped in at the amazing Gatorade Sports Science Institute to catch -up on all the latest research and testing going on with our favorite sports drink. All I can say, is that there are good things on the horizon.
Then it was on to Clermont, Florida, for our inaugral Florida Winter camp. It is anything but winter down here. With so much of the country freezing to death, here we are in balmy 70 degree weather, riding on beautiful roads, swimming at the outdoor 50m pool of the USA Triathlon Training Center, and running in shorts.
This is a first time camp for us, and to fit the bill, many first time triathletes have shown up to get set-up and meet the challenge of doing their first event some time this year. On the other end of the spectrum, a few Ironman athletes desperate to get some miles on the bike outdoors have 'run away' from the cold for 4-days. With bike-set up by newly certfied Roch & Paul (having recently gone through Dan Empfields course in Valyermo), and videotaping out the way....the athletes are ready for 3 packed days of technique, lectures and getting a jump on their workouts for the year.
