I just arrived in Sacramento. It's cold and rainy. In the old days I would've welcomed crappy weather. Crappy weather was an opportunity for me to gain fitness and toughness over my more sissy-minded peers. It is my experience that the more time someone had to train, the less likely they were to head out in inclement weather. Therefore - it rained, I trained. It snowed, I trained.
That was then and this is now. Currently I'm of the opinion that the only time someone should run in the rain, is to avoid getting wet. I've had some of my best recent sprint sessions hauling ass from the car to the grocery store.
So I didn't run today. It's okay. I felt especially good after yesterday's run. I don't want to rush my fitness. It'd be tragic to peak too early for Carlsbad - get in 16:00 shape in March, only to fade in April.
So I will sleep - right after I have a drink at the bar.
