Approximately 10 miles into the ride (before you ride out Las Pulgas Gate), you'll do a 2.5 mile out and back section. Roch stands at the fire station that marks this first land mark (besides "the hill" that marks the beginning of hammering on the Wednesday Ride) on the course. The section is very gradually up on the way out and a quick gradual downhill on the way back.
Ironman California Bike Course PreviewThrough the courtesy of the U.S. Marine Corps and a little help from some of their officers, a group including Heather Fuhr, Roch Frey, and I (Huddle) got to ride the bike course of the 2000 Ironman California. I'm going to ride the course again this weekend and will try to post a more detailed description next week. For now, the accompanying pictures will give you a glimpse of what you'll be in for if you're planning on doing the event. There's one thing for certain, the bike course will be the defining feature of this event!
Those athletes who will be coming to our MSSC Ironman California Camp and those in the Ironman California Training Program will also have the opportunity to ride the course firsthand.
