Underpants pre race warmup!
Roch checks in from Penticton! You can get all the race stories about who is looking the fittest and who claims they are going to crush the competition on Sunday by looking at Ironmanlive.com, but we are going to bring you the "real" news of what's happening in the Penticton the week before Ironman Canada.
The biggest event so far this week was the underpants run held on Friday morning. Four records were set for this annual event: Most money raised, most competitors overall, most female competitors and youngest competitor. $395 was raised for Ironchild foundation (a local charity that helps out children with liver and intestinal disease). A big thanks to all those that contributed to this great cause. We always arrive the week before an Ironman and take over the community so it is nice to give a little back to those locally who can use the help.
We had a conservative estimate of 60 people participating as well as 12 females (this female total includes Jamie Cleveland as he looked too good wearing His girlfriends (Andrea Fisher) Victoria secret undies and bra). But our youngest competitor was 7-year-old Jordan, who was also the overall winner. When interviewed after his first pro win he said that the race was so cool because he was finally allowed by his mother to run almost naked down the street, something that he had tried in the past but then had his Nintendo privileges taken away for a week.
More race day "real" news from Ironman Canada early next week.
